“Father & Son." . The painting is about their relationship and also, to bring forth the message - both are very much real. There is the "person" of Christ and also the "person" of the Father as well. God is not a person, but we all were formed and made in His image - the person of the Father. God is also not a "universe" as some claim Him to be. He is not the universe, He created the universe.

The painting was created simply to show the love they have for one another.
There is no grander example of a Father & Son relationship then that of God and Jesus.
This was all that was meant to be behind the intent of the painting.

There is however, one aspect regarding this painting that most people miss when they look at it. The simple cloth fold under God's hand that is upon His Son's shoulder. It is one thing to lay you hand on your child and say, "I love you," but it is quite another thing to lay your hand on your child's should, and pull them extra close to you as you say, "I LOVE you!"
Perhaps the kiss on Jesus head (while God’s eyes scan the horizon) is a kiss of blessing a Father gives His Son before sending Him off to battle. By Danny Hahlbohm
